Press Release
Appetite for adventure at UK’s first Outdoor Lifestyle Show
Show rolls out its menu at start of National BBQ Week
Visitors with a taste for adventure will not be left hungry at the UK’s first Outdoor Lifestyle Show this summer with tasty bush tucker treats and South African braais (barbecues) being thrown into the pot of new experiences.
The healthy and wholesome mouth-watering delights in store, which are as diverse as the action-packed activities on offer, are being rolled out to celebrate the start of National BBQ Week on Monday (May 26).
A weekend of lifetime firsts packed with thrilling rally car and 4x4 rides, zorbing, hot air balloon trips and hundreds of exhibitors showcasing anything and everything to do with the great outdoors will build up a healthy appetite among the tens of thousands of visitors expected through the gates in July – and the exciting doesn’t stop where the gastronomic delicacies start.
Hungry visitors will be able to feast on hog roasts, game meat, barbecue dishes and enjoy al fresco dining in one of the huge catering tepees.
They will also be able to sample exotic South African food, including chilli bites, Boerewors rolls (South African sausage), Droewors (cured sausage) and Biltong (jerky), as well as Koeksisters and Melktart for those with a sweet tooth. Locally-based sa-eshop.com will also be selling South African braai packs at the show’s campsite, with a choice of meats available from marinated chicken to Texan steaks. Disposable barbecues will also be on sale at the site.
Meanwhile, over in the corporate hospitality area for companies looking to treat clients or families and couples wanting to celebrate a special occasion in style, five-star food including fresh oysters, seared fillets of sea bass and caramelised lemon tart will be served.
All food on offer at the show will come from local suppliers where possible and can be washed down with New Forest Spring Water, available at the event in new sustainable and biodegradable ‘biobottles’, locally-produced cider, organic coffee and healthy fruit smoothies. All waste will be recycled on site.
Gary Robinson, Managing Director of show organiser Outdoor Leisure Shows Ltd, said:
“There won’t be a greasy burger van in sight. We are putting our money where our mouth is – literally. We will be feeding visitors in a healthy way with nutritious food, locally-sourced where possible. We are making a stand against poor quality, greasy food.”
The show takes place at Canford Park Arena in Poole from Friday July 4 to Sunday July 6. Any families wishing to camp over the weekend should book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment with tent pitches costing £20 a night and caravan and motorhomes costing £25. Entrance to the show costs £9 for adults, £4 for a child (five to 15 years old) and £23 for a family (two adults and two children) if you book online in advance, or £10, £5 and £25 respectively on the day.
